Pertubuhan Kebajikan Cahaya Surya Bakti (CSB) is a Malaysian-based NGO partnered with UNHCR to run five schools for refugee children in the state of Johor. CSB Kempas in Johor Bahru is the main centre providing secondary education leading to Cambridge IGCSE certification.
CSB aims to develop holistic education and skills for refugees, enabling them to integrate into society and get an opportunity to higher education. CSB also works towards building the refugee community by enhancing their health and livelihood sectors and creating links to boost the community's capacity in these areas. Our goal for our students is to obtain 5 IGCSE credits in order to graduate
Responsibilities
- Teach English as a Second Language to Secondary students
- Plan and deliver engaging, structured lessons aligned with curriculum standards
- Assess students language proficiency and provide targeted support
- Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to parents and school management
- Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
- Prepare students for assessments and examinations
- Maintain good classroom management and student discipline
Qualifications
- Prior experience with the Cambridge Examination Board (IGCSE or A-Levels) is highly preferred, whether through teaching, tutoring, or having taken the examinations at the secondary level.
- Must be passionate about teaching and enthusiastic about working with students, with a commitment to tailoring methods to meet the needs of refugee learners
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, English, TESOL, or related field
- Recognised teaching qualification (TEFL/TESOL/CELTA preferred)
- Experience teaching ESL to Primary and/or Secondary students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, enthusiastic, and committed to student development
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents
