Job Role: Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions Engineer

Role Overview

The Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, operating, and optimizing enterprise IT infrastructure solutions to ensure optimal performance, security, scalability, and alignment with business needs. This role covers the full lifecycle of infrastructurefrom architecture and deployment to operations and continuous improvementacross on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, resilient, and cost-effective technology solutions that support MetLife's business operations and digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Design, Implementation & Operations:

  • Develop, deploy, and maintain enterprise IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable, secure infrastructure blueprints and solutions.
  • Select and implement appropriate hardware, software, and cloud services to meet performance, availability, and cost objectives.
  • Configure and manage network devices, firewalls, VPNs, and cloud-based systems.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and efficiency.
  • Implement and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.

System Administration & Lifecycle Management:

  • Provide lifecycle support for distributed and enterprise servers, storage, and virtualization platforms.
  • Perform hardware upgrades, patch management, and software updates to ensure compliance and performance.
  • Manage device onboarding, imaging, and asset tracking.

Security & Compliance:

  • Ensure system security, perform vulnerability assessments, and implement best practices for data protection and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with security teams to enforce infrastructure security controls and respond to incidents.

Automation & Optimization:

  • Use infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell) to streamline provisioning, configuration, and management.
  • Package, test, and deploy software applications and updates using automated delivery platforms.
  • Continuously optimize infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

Collaboration & Support:

  • Work closely with application, security, and operations teams to deliver integrated solutions and provide technical support.
  • Support and administer collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365/O365, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Set up, maintain, and support meeting room and AV technologies.
  • Document infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures for knowledge sharing and compliance.

Technical Leadership (Senior Level):

  • Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and lead cross-functional project teams.
  • Drive adoption of modern infrastructure practices and contribute to technology strategy.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience:

  • Engineer: 25 years relevant experience.
  • Senior: 5+ years with demonstrated technical and/or team leadership.

Skills:

  • Expertise in Windows/Linux server management, virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), database (SQL/Oracle) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong knowledge of network administration, firewalls, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Experience with automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, scripting languages) and monitoring solutions.
  • Experience in software packaging, automated deployment, and testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with collaboration platforms, AV/meeting room technologies, and endpoint management tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • (Senior Level) Ability to lead, mentor, and manage technical teams.

Preferred Certifications:

  • CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft 365/O365, or similar certifications are a plus.

Language:

  • Business proficiency in English.
  • Proficiency in Japanese will be an added bonus
