Role Description

The Environmental Officer is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities comply with Malaysian environmental laws, regulations, and project-specific Environmental Management Plans (EMPs). The officer plays a critical role in managing environmental risks, conducting inspections, and liaising with regulatory bodies.

  • Ensure all construction activities comply with Malaysias Environmental Quality Act 1974 and other relevant environmental legislation.
  • Maintain records and submit reports to DOE or other authorities as required.

  • Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure environmental standards are upheld.
  • Manage waste segregation, storage, and disposal according to scheduled waste regulations.
  • Promote best environmental practices and continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with DOE, local authorities, consultants, and stakeholders regarding environmental matters.
  • Attend and support environmental site visits, inspections, and meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • CePSWaM certified
  • Minimum 25 years in an environmental role within the construction or infrastructure sector.
  • Familiar with Malaysia&aposs EQA 1974, EIA guidelines, DOE procedures, and ISO 14001 EMS
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and reporting skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Experience in the construction or engineering industry
