Job Summary

The Equipment Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and optimal performance of Powertrain manufacturing equipment through preventive and corrective maintenance. Working closely with Production, Process Engineering, and Quality teams, this role supports equipment installation, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and maintenance activities to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

1. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment to ensure maximum equipment availability and reliability.
  • Diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and restore equipment to normal operating condition.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, and repair logs.

2. Equipment Installation & Calibration

  • Support the installation, commissioning, relocation, and decommissioning of manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform equipment calibration, verification, and periodic inspections to ensure compliance with production and quality requirements.
  • Ensure all equipment operates within specified performance standards.

3. Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and continuous improvement initiatives.

4. Production Support

  • Collaborate with Production and Process Engineering teams to minimize equipment downtime and support production targets.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities to minimize disruption to manufacturing operations.
  • Keep relevant stakeholders informed of equipment status, maintenance progress, and critical issues.

5. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with company safety standards and statutory requirements.
  • Conduct routine inspections to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Support the implementation of maintenance best practices and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in equipment maintenance within the automotive, powertrain, or manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience in troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation systems will be an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0, industrial automation, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Good command of English (written and spoken). Proficiency in Mandarin will be an added advantage.
