Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and self‑motivated individual to conduct in‑depth research and analysis of companies and sectors under coverage and generate actionable investment ideas through well‑articulated research reports. The role will also support the Chief Investment Office (CIO) in the development and execution of equity investment strategies.

Close collaboration with Investment Advisors, Consultants, and Relationship Managers is essential to ensure that equity views are aligned with the overall asset allocation strategy and prevailing investment themes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑conviction, well‑researched stock recommendations through fundamental analysis, company visits, and participation in industry conferences. Collectively manage an equity model portfolio as a team, with an absolute return objective.
  • Monitor sector and market developments across relevant geographies and provide timely insights and updates to Relationship Managers and Private Bankers.
  • Publish investment reports on stock ideas, updates, and thematic investment strategies on a timely basis for sectors under coverage.
  • Communicate investment ideas and equity strategies clearly and effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of client portfolios and propose strategies to optimise asset allocation and diversification in alignment with the CIO's views and model portfolio.
  • Participate in client meetings alongside Relationship Managers and Private Bankers to provide investment advice, stock recommendations, and market insights.
  • Support Senior Equity Analysts in macroeconomic and sector‑specific research coverage.
  • Provide administrative and analytical support through model portfolio maintenance and contributions to regular CIO publications.
  • Collaborate with the Structured Products team to recommend suitable equity‑linked investment structures that meet clients needs and generate revenue.
  • Support Relationship Managers and Private Bankers in achieving revenue and Assets Under Management (AUM) targets set by management, while promoting CIMB Group's Affluent Banking business.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in equity research, portfolio management, and/or investment strategy.
  • Strong passion for equity markets and research, with solid expertise in valuation methodologies, financial modelling, and Bloomberg.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Regional market coverage experience and possession of an Investment Adviser's Representative license will be considered an advantage.
