The Technical Production Manager role strengthens and supports the execution of our live events and productions through collaboration with the Production Management, Broadcast, Project, and IT departments to deliver key planning elements of our live shows. The role plays a pivotal part in leading, coordinating, and delivering seamless productions and broadcasts for regional and international events, both in-studio and on-site.

This position utilises technical, managerial, and administrative expertise to enhance the execution of every stage of production, from pre-planning through post-execution. Key responsibilities include managing production budgets, coordinating with the Broadcast department, and overseeing the procurement of freelancers and external service providers. The role involves leading and motivating teams to meet project deadlines while serving as the primary point of contact throughout all stages of production, including setup, live show, and teardown. It also encompasses managing the technical execution and stage production design of large-scale esports events, coordinating production vendors, and ensuring all creative and operational requirements are met for global event and studio deliveries.

This position is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and requires permanent on-site attendance at our Malaysian studio. EFG is open to applicants from surrounding APAC countries assuming they are happy to relocate to Malaysia for this position. Candidates must also be willing to travel periodically for work in both Southeast Asia & Internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of esports broadcasts and live events, ensuring seamless coordination across Production, Broadcast, Project, and Events teams.
  • Manage production budgets, resource allocation, and the negotiation and coordination of freelancers and external service providers.
  • Develop detailed production schedules, technical drawings, and floor plans to support efficient event execution and resource allocation.
  • Supervise on-site crews during setup, live show, and teardown phases, including installation and quality control of technical equipment such as lighting, video, and stage systems.
  • Oversee studio and production calendars to ensure personnel, equipment, and facilities are properly scheduled.
  • Maintain and develop a strong network of suppliers and production partners, contributing to RFP processes in line with company procurement standards.
  • Ensure all production deadlines, deliverables, and quality benchmarks are achieved within tight timelines.
  • Support the alignment of global broadcast standards with regional production nuances.
  • Identify and implement improvements to production workflows and operational processes.
  • Create and maintain post-event reports and debriefs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Willing to travel up to 30% of the time, both domestically and internationally.

Role Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience supporting the planning, design, and execution of large-scale live events or broadcasts (esports, television, or sporting events preferred).
  • At least 1 year of experience creating, reading, and implementing event floorplans and layouts.
  • Strong knowledge of live event and studio production processes, with a solid understanding of technical considerations related to live broadcast environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate mid- and junior-level team members, fostering collaboration and maintaining high morale.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal), with the ability to remain calm and clear under pressure. Proven ability to work alongside international colleagues in both a supporting and leading position.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, with strong time management, prioritisation, and attention to detail.
  • Highly organised and results-driven, with ownership of projects from planning through to delivery.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally to address production, operational, strategic and account-level challenges.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as JIRA, Trello, Asana, Smartsheet, or monday.com, and strong familiarity with Google Workspace.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset and enthusiasm for delivering high-quality outcomes.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to remain clear and composed in complex or high-pressure situations.
  • Hands-on experience working in studio and live event environments, including stage setup, scenic production elements, and coordination with production crews.
  • Ability to document planning procedures, processes, and workflows accurately.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and analytical, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong knowledge of standard camera, grip, lighting, audio, and graphic broadcast production equipment, as well as live event and video production workflows (including pre- and post-production).
  • Collaborative team player with an all hands on deck attitude and the flexibility to occasionally work late or on weekends.
  • Strong network of production partners and vendors.
  • Relevant tertiary education, qualification, or training in a related field.

Bonus If You Have:

  • A strong passion for esports and gaming culture
  • Experience working in multi-language, multi-region production environments.
  • Experience working in OB (Outside Broadcast) truck and flypack environment.
  • Proficiency in diagram creation software such as Vectorworks, AutoCad, ConnectCad, etc.
