Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

The Compliance Officer (Policy, Research & New Initiatives) supports MMHE and the wider MHB Group, including subsidiaries and affiliates, by executing and coordinating compliance and integrity initiatives. This role is responsible for policy development, risk assessment, due diligence, and monitoring of compliance functions to ensure alignment with the Group's CoBE, ABC policies, the 5 Critical Legal Areas (5CLAs), and regulatory obligations. The role also performs research and benchmarking on best practices and emerging compliance trends to strengthen the organization's compliance culture.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute and maintain compliance and integrity policies to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Conduct research and analysis on emerging compliance trends, laws, and regulations.
  • Develop, review, update and enhance corporate policies, governance frameworks, compliance policies and procedures to minimize noncompliance risks and protect MHB's reputation.
  • Engage with external regulatory bodies, legal networks, and industry associations to advocate for favourable policy outcomes, and align internal practices with external expectations.
  • Conduct compliance reviews to ensure activities comply with CoBE, ABC, and regulatory/statutory requirements.
  • Implement CoBE action plans and corrective measures to address noncompliance findings.
  • Perform due diligence risk assessments (DDRA) for third parties (vendors, clients, or partners).
  • Review compliance clauses in contracts or agreements to ensure risk mitigation and compliance alignment with MHB standards.
  • Implement policies and processes related to: Critical Legal Areas (5CLAs), Conflict of Interest management, Personal Data Protection (PDPA), Economic Sanctions, Anti-Competition Practices, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
  • Monitor PDPA compliance and Conflict-of-Interest processes.
  • Track and report new or amended regulations, including economic sanctions, and assess their impact on business activities.
  • Promote awareness of anti-competition and Intellectual Property policies across the organization.
  • Support audit processes, regulatory inspections, and investigations by providing legal documentation, compliance reports, and recommendations for corrective actions and policy enhancements.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree in Business Administration, Law or relevant qualification.
  • At least 1 – 3 years working experience in compliance and/or internal audit preferably related to Code of Conduct and Business Ethics.
