Job Description

The Experienced Manager, Accounting is responsible for leading the US Consolidated Corporate accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance, and strong internal controls. This role oversees the month-end close process, manages a global team, partners with auditors, and drives process improvements, including ERP optimization with Microsoft Dynamics 365.

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – HYBRID (3-days office)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the GL accounting teams under US GAAP, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Manage month-end close for the US Consolidated Corporate books; ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions.
  • Review and approve journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations; resolve reconciling items promptly.
  • Prepare monthly financial schedules and reports, including Balance Sheet and P&L analyses for reporting to the CFO, CAO and Corporate Controller.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting; ensure compliance with US GAAP and/or local GAAP as needed.
  • Analyzes new accounting standards (US GAAP) and reporting requirements and provides recommendation to CAO and Corporate Controller
  • Coordinate external audits and provide high-quality, timely responses to auditor requests.
  • Support optimization of accounting processes, leveraging technology and process improvements to speed up the Month End Close process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (FP&A, HR, IT) to align processes and ensure accurate financial outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Accounting (ACCA, CPA, CA) preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a Manager+ role
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with IFRS required, US GAAP a plus
  • Experience working at the Big 4 accounting firms or regional accounting firms a plus
  • Experienced in managing month-end close, reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • ERP optimization experience (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred).
  • Excellent leadership and team development skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication skills in English & Bahasa Malaysia.

Work Model: Hybrid – 3 Days in the office per week (Tuesday - Thursday) with potential flexibility around close timing.

Working Hours: Flexibility to collaborate across US time zones.
