Job Description

Cummins is a global power leader committed to powering a more prosperous world. Our culture is driven by innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning—where talented professionals thrive while delivering impactful solutions across power generation, data centers, and mission-critical infrastructure.

We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced project managers. This is a Onsite with Flexibility work model role and is based at our office, located in Malaysia – Johor or KL.

The Project Manager – Power Generation is responsible for end-to-end delivery of power generation projects, ensuring safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives are met. This role is critical in delivering data centre projects, requiring strong on-site leadership to manage complex construction environments and coordinate across customers, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and internal teams in real time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead power generation and data center projects from contract award to commissioning and handover
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource plans
  • Ensure strict adherence to HSE, quality, and regulatory compliance, while maintaining practical execution on site
  • Manage project risks, issues, and change control (VOs), with proactive, solution-oriented decision making
  • Oversee cost control, P&L responsibility, cash flow, and forecasting
  • Coordinate internal teams (engineering, supply chain, service) and external stakeholders
  • Act as the on-site focal point, driving daily coordination between customer, consultants, contractors, vendors, and suppliers
  • Act as primary customer interface, ensuring strong client engagement and satisfaction
  • Manage subcontractors, vendors, and site execution activities
  • Actively resolve site issues, conflicts, and design/construction gaps to maintain progress and schedule
  • Track progress, prepare reports, and communicate status to stakeholders
  • Drive standardization, lessons learned, and continuous improvement
  • Mentor and guide project engineers and site teams

Key Competencies

  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management
  • High commercial and financial acumen
  • Ability to manage complexity and conflicts
  • Customer-focused, resilient, and results-driven
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills
  • Strong on-site leadership presence with ability to manage dynamic construction environments
  • Practical problem-solver who can make timely decisions and drive resolution across multiple parties
  • Highly effective at coordinating across customers, vendors, suppliers, contractors, and internal teams
  • Adaptable and action-oriented, with focus on delivery rather than process-heavy governance

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline
  • 8–15 years of experience managing power generation or large EPC projects
  • Proven experience in data centre, mission-critical, or fast-track construction projects is strongly preferred
  • Strong exposure to gensets, balance of plant, commissioning, and site execution
  • Demonstrated experience managing site-based construction activities and multi-stakeholder environments
  • Proven experience managing cost, schedule, risk, and P&L
  • Experience working with cross-functional and multicultural teams
  • Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) is an advantage
  • Proficient in project tools (MS Project, ERP, reporting dashboards)
  • Willingness to be hands-on and present on site to drive project outcomes
