This role is critical in ensuring uninterrupted power supply, electrical safety, system reliability, and compliance across production floors, cleanrooms, and mission-critical environments. The ideal candidate will play a key role in supporting factory operations and maintaining high system uptime through effective maintenance, monitoring, and improvement of electrical assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all electrical systems, including MV/LV power distribution, switchgear, transformers, backup generators, UPS, busducts, and power monitoring systems.
  • Ensure continuous and stable electrical supply to cleanrooms, production tools, and Data Center infrastructure (e.g., UPS systems, PDU panels, precision cooling systems).
  • Work closely with IT and facilities teams to maintain Data Center electrical reliability in line with global best practices (e.g., Tier standards, N+1 redundancy).
  • Lead and coordinate contractors and vendors for electrical work, preventive maintenance, testing, and upgrades.
  • Conduct electrical risk assessments and ensure strict adherence to Malaysian electrical safety regulations (e.g., Suruhanjaya Tenaga, DOSH).
  • Review and update SLDs (Single Line Diagrams), load schedules, and emergency response plans.
  • Implement and monitor energy conservation initiatives and propose system upgrades for improved efficiency and sustainability.
  • Support new equipment installation and facility expansion by reviewing electrical system capacity, layout design, and commissioning activities.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and drive corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for any power incidents or system failures.
  • Prepare and manage electrical system documentation, including PM records, test reports, and compliance certificates.
  • Support internal and external audits related to electrical infrastructure, energy usage, and safety compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Candidate with Chargeman B0 11kV or 33kV certificate is preferred.
  • Minimum 45 years of experience in facilities electrical engineering in an electronic/semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing environment.
  • Solid technical knowledge of power distribution systems (MV/LV), backup power systems (UPS, gensets), and Data Center electrical support.
  • Familiar with Malaysian statutory regulations and submission requirements (e.g., ST, DOSH, BOMBA).
  • Hands-on experience with BMS, EMS, and CMMS tools (e.g., Maximo).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Able to support 24/7 operations and respond to emergencies when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Data Center electrical standards (e.g., Uptime Institute Tier classification, IEEE standards).
  • Exposure to energy efficiency programs, ISO 14001/45001, and green building practices.
  • Familiar with electrical compliance audits, lightning protection systems, and surge protection.
