Job Description

Role Overview

The IFM Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems within the facility. This includes HVAC systems, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, fire protection systems, and other mechanical utilities. The role ensures reliability, compliance, and energy efficiency in line with organizational, statutory, and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operations & Maintenance
    • Manage day-to-day operation of mechanical systems such as chillers, AHUs, cooling towers, pumps, compressors, and piping systems.
    • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
    • Monitor system performance and energy consumption; implement efficiency improvements.
  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting
    • Diagnose and resolve mechanical failures or performance issues promptly.
    • Provide engineering expertise during breakdowns, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
    • Coordinate with OEMs, vendors, and contractors for specialized support.
  • Compliance & Safety
    • Ensure all mechanical systems comply with statutory, regulatory, and safety standards (ASHRAE, ISO, OSHA, local codes).
    • Support audits (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, etc.) by maintaining records and documentation.
    • Implement and enforce EHS (Environment, Health, Safety) procedures in all maintenance activities.
  • Project & Asset Management
    • Support IFM projects such as equipment upgrades, retrofits, and energy optimization initiatives.
    • Manage vendors and contractors for service quality and cost control.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Drive energy-saving initiatives and sustainability programs.
    • Introduce innovative solutions to improve system reliability and reduce operational cost.
    • Provide technical training and knowledge-sharing to junior engineers and technicians.
Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience: 3–7 years in facilities management, mechanical systems, or building services engineering (IFM / property management / manufacturing plant experience preferred).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of HVAC, chilled water systems, pumps, compressors, and fire protection systems.
    • Familiar with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
    • Knowledge of ISO standards, energy efficiency programs, and predictive maintenance tools.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Good communication, stakeholder management, and teamwork abilities.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
