Job Description

Role: Facilities Project Engineer

Industry: Semiconductor Manufacturing

Duration: 12 months

Salary range: MYR 6,000 - MYR 9,000 (Based on experience + skills) + statutory contribution + leave entitlement + medical insurance + Entitled for 13th month bonus

Location: Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone Phase 1, 11900 Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia.

Working Days & Hours: Monday to Friday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm - flexible to work on weekends, replacement leave provided.

Role Purpose

The Facilities Project Engineer (FPE) will lead the end‑to‑end planning, coordination, and execution of a fixed‑term facilities project within a semiconductor back‑end manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for delivering scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety outcomes while ensuring minimal disruption to manufacturing operations. The FPE will serve as the central point of coordination across FM engineering, operations, EHS, contractors, and external service providers.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Execution

  • Lead full lifecycle project management: feasibility study, scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, installation, commissioning, and close‑out.
  • Oversee facility building/infrastructure modifications, tool hook‑ups, cleanroom‑related works, and MEP system upgrades associated with semiconductor back‑end processes.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules, ensuring alignment with production windows, shutdown periods, and operational contingencies.
  • Manage project risk assessments, including EHS reviews, operational impact analysis, and change control documentation.

Stakeholder & Contractor Management

  • Coordinate closely with manufacturing, engineering, equipment, facilities maintenance, and sustaining operations teams to ensure project alignment with factory requirements.
  • Lead contractor management activities, including daily oversight, performance tracking, site coordination, and dispute resolution.
  • Ensure all contractors adhere to semiconductor‑standard EHS guidelines, cleanroom protocols, and work‑classification requirements.

Compliance, Documentation & Governance

  • Own all project documentation: permits, method statements, risk assessments, drawings, specifications, commissioning records, and as‑built documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal FM standards, local regulatory requirements, and industry safety protocols.
  • Prepare project tracking reports and site-level updates

Operational Continuity & Safety

  • Plan work sequencing to minimize impact on production yield, WIP flow, tool uptime, and operational continuity.
  • Enforce rigorous safety controls, including permit‑to‑work, lock‑out/tag‑out (LOTO), and confined‑space/working‑at‑height requirements.
  • Facilitate smooth commissioning, testing/verification, and handover to hook up and operations teams.
  • Ensure completion of handover documentations to operations teams.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, or related disciplines.
  • 3-5 years of project management experience in semiconductor or other advanced manufacturing facilities.
  • Strong technical knowledge of: - have fundamental experience
  • Building infrastructure and CSA structural works
  • MEP - mechanical, electrical and process. systems (HVAC, electrical, process utilities, clean gases, DI water, vacuum)
  • Cleanroom protocols and controlled‑environment requirements.
  • Equipment tool hook‑up and facilities interface
  • Demonstrated capability in multi‑stakeholder alignment and contractor leadership.
  • Proficient in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, Smartsheet).
