Position Summary
The Facilities Shift Lead supervises daily facilities operations during assigned shifts, ensuring building systems function properly, work orders are completed efficiently, and the facility maintains optimal operating conditions. This role serves as the primary point of contact for facilities issues during their shift and coordinates the activities of facilities technicians and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Oversight Oversees all facilities operations during assigned shift including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety systems, and building automation systems. Conducts regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns. Monitors building management systems and responds promptly to alarms and system failures.
Team Leadership Supervises and coordinates facilities technicians and support staff during shift. Assigns work orders and prioritizes tasks based on urgency and impact. Provides technical guidance and mentorship to team members. Conducts performance reviews and documents staff activities.
Work Order Management Reviews, assigns, and tracks completion of work orders through computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Ensures timely response to emergency and routine requests. Verifies quality of completed work and updates documentation.
Vendor Coordination Coordinates with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and services. Reviews contractor work for quality and compliance with specifications. Maintains vendor documentation and ensures proper site access protocols.
Safety and Compliance Enforces safety procedures and ensures team compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies. Conducts safety inspections and addresses hazards immediately. Maintains emergency preparedness including equipment checks and evacuation procedures.
Communication and Reporting Serves as facilities liaison with building occupants, property management, and other departments. Provides shift handoff reports to incoming leads. Documents incidents, system issues, and completed activities. Escalates critical issues to Facilities Manager.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, Building Systems, or related technical field preferred. Minimum 3-5 years facilities maintenance experience with at least 1-2 years in supervisory or lead capacity.
Technical Skills Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems. Proficiency with CMMS software and Microsoft Office applications. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and system diagrams..
