Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Install and route fiber trunks and jumpers according to pathway plans while maintaining proper bend radius, pull tension, and cable support requirements.
  • Perform fiber termination, splicing, and enclosure-related work, including cassette installation, splice tray management, and polarity control.
  • Execute or support fiber testing activities using OLTS and OTDR equipment as required.
  • Interpret test results and perform corrective actions such as re-termination, cleaning, or rerouting to achieve project acceptance standards.
  • Apply connector care best practices, including end-face inspection, cleaning procedures, contamination control, and use of protective caps.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality throughout all fiber installation activities.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to junior installers and technicians.
  • Coordinate closely with patching, testing, labeling, and project teams to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of fiber routes, enclosure records, testing outcomes, and related project information.
  • Follow all workplace safety requirements when working on ladders, lifts, and overhead cable tray environments.

Job Requirements

  • Strong hands-on expertise in fiber optic infrastructure, including Single Mode (SM) and Multi Mode (MM) fiber systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of MPO/MTP and LC connectivity, polarity methods, and high-density fiber management practices.
  • Working knowledge of BICSI and ANSI/TIA standards related to fiber installation, testing, and documentation.
  • Proficiency in the use of fiber installation tools, testing equipment, and fault diagnosis techniques.
  • Ability to identify and resolve common fiber issues such as contaminated end faces, macro-bends, and polarity errors.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy and test result traceability.
  • Demonstrated craftsmanship, quality focus, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work comfortably in physically demanding environments, including elevated work areas and overhead pathways.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to mentor less experienced personnel.

Preferred Certifications

  • FOA CFOT, CFOS, or equivalent fiber optic certification.
  • Manufacturer-specific fiber training certifications.
  • BICSI Installer or Technician credentials.
