Role
Trina Storage are seeking a Field Service Engineer for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. They are the front-line technical experts responsible for on-site system commissioning, diagnostics, and maintenance tasks ensuring peak performance, safety, and reliability of BESS units across varied projects. With a blend of electrical expertise and hands-on problem-solving skills, these professionals also support customer training, perform system upgrades, and relay field insights back to product development teams. Their work is crucial in advancing clean energy infrastructure and supporting grid resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer technical support during mechanical and electrical tasks throughout the installation and commissioning phase of Energy Storage Projects
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and electrical codes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues to minimise downtime.
- Collaborate with various professionals to implement a detailed commissioning schedule, working closely with overseas colleagues from Trina Storage.
- Generate daily and weekly reports, monitoring and addressing any deviations from the planned schedule.
- Oversee and coordinate maintenance activities to ensure the reliability and optimal performance of electrical systems
- Participate in preventive and reactive maintenance activities for Energy Storage infrastructure.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with contractual obligations, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices
Qualifications and Skills:
- Electrical trade qualification or electronics experience in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of electrical standards, safety standards, and renewable energy systems.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with quality assurance principles and reporting systems.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Desirable skills and knowledge
- Hands-on experience in commissioning utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), with a clear understanding of key subsystems including Battery Management System (BMS), Power Conversion System (PCS), and EMS/SCADA platforms.
- Prior experience working with or commissioning products from major BESS vendors (e.g., Sungrow, Tesla, Fluence, CATL, Huawei) will be highly regarded.
- Prior exposure to fire suppression systems, HVAC, and protection relays
- Proficiency in Mandarin is highly regarded due to regular collaboration with China-based technical teams.
