Position Summary

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Busway Engineer is responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical busway systems for commercial, industrial, and data center environments. This role ensures all work meets safety, quality, and operational standards while supporting project execution and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Installation & Commissioning
  • Install busway systems (LV/MV) according to design drawings, specifications, and safety standards.
  • Perform alignment, torqueing, mounting, and jointing of busway components.
  • Conduct testing, pre-commissioning, and final commissioning activities.
  • Ensure proper grounding, phasing, and load distribution.
  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on installed busway systems.
  • Diagnose faults such as overheating, connection failures, insulation issues, or load imbalance.
  • Prepare maintenance reports and improvement recommendations.
  • Technical Support
  • Provide technical guidance to site teams, contractors, and clients.
  • Review technical documents, drawings (single-line diagrams, layout plans), and BOQs.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, suppliers, and internal engineering teams.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with local electrical codes, OEM installation instructions, and company safety procedures.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA), tool inspections, and implement LOTO procedures.
  • Documentation
  • Prepare site reports, test sheets, commissioning documents, and as-built drawings.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials, manpower, and work progress.

Qualifications

Education

  • Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power, Mechatronics, or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 13 years experience in electrical installation or busway systems preferred.
  • Experience in data centers, industrial plants, or commercial buildings is an added advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of LV/MV distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of busway brands (e.g., Schneider, Siemens, Eaton, LS, Fujikura, Starline).
  • Ability to read and interpret:
    • SLDs drawings
    • Installation manuals
    • Method of Statement (MOS)
Proficient In Using Electrical Testing Tools

  • Multimeter
  • Insulation tester (Megger)
  • Thermal Imager
  • Torque wrench

Soft Skills

  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to work independently and under pressure.
  • Team-oriented, responsible, and safety conscious.

Other Requirements

  • Willing to travel to multiple sites.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends, and during critical shutdowns or project deadlines.
  • Possess valid driving license (preferred).
