Job Purpose

The Finance Executive (GL) is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing the general ledger, and ensuring timely and compliant financial reporting. This role supports the overall financial operations of the school by ensuring integrity in accounting processes and adherence to internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage the General Ledger (GL), ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Ensure proper account coding and classification in line with accounting standards.

Reconciliation & Reporting

  • Perform bank reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
  • Prepare financial statements, management reports, and schedules.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting exercises.

Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies.
  • Assist in external and internal audits, including preparation of audit schedules and supporting documents.
  • Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all financial transactions.

Accounts Support

  • Support Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions when required.
  • Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on discrepancies.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, controls, and efficiency.
  • Assist in implementation of accounting systems or process enhancements.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ICAEW) is an advantage

Experience

  • Minimum 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably with GL exposure
  • Experience in education sector or service industry is an added advantage

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills in English (written and spoken)
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
