Our client is an established manufacturing organisation with a solid track record and regional presence. To support the next phase of growth and enhance financial stewardship across the business, the company is seeking a General Manager, Finance to partner with senior leadership and drive sustainable performance. This role is based in Johor.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide strategic financial leadership to the business, partnering closely with senior management to support decision‑making, performance improvement, and sustainable growth.
  • Oversee the full spectrum of finance and controlling activities, including financial reporting, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term business planning.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal governance policies.
  • Lead and strengthen financial controlling structures and processes, driving discipline in cost control, budget management, and financial performance monitoring.
  • Deliver meaningful financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to improve profitability, operational efficiency, risk management, and resource allocation.
  • Support business strategy development through financial modelling, scenario analysis, and evaluation of strategic initiatives.
  • Drive the annual budgeting, rolling forecast, and medium‑term planning processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives and growth priorities.
  • Ensure effective risk management practices are embedded across the organisation, including compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee finance-related systems and tools, working closely with IT to ensure effective use of ERP and reporting systems.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a strong performance culture and building finance capability across the organisation.
  • Act as the key liaison with external stakeholders, including auditors, tax advisors, banks, and regulatory bodies.

Role requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g. CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 12-15 years of progressive experience in finance, controlling, or financial leadership roles, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong hands‑on experience in financial controlling, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting for large‑scale or regional operations.
  • Proven ability to partner with senior leadership and influence business decisions through data‑driven insights and commercial acumen.
  • Solid understanding of financial governance, compliance, risk management, and internal controls.
  • Experience working in a regional or multi‑country environment is highly desirable.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP or similar) and advanced financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Able to be based in Johor
