Job Description
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting / Finance Intern to support our Finance team in daily accounting operations. This internship will provide hands-on exposure to end-to-end accounting processes, financial reporting, and audit support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Employee Claims Processing
- Review and verify employee claim submissions, including receipts, approval forms, and mileage logs.
- Identify discrepancies and follow up with employees to resolve missing or incorrect information.
- Bank Reconciliation
- Import monthly bank statements into the accounting system.
- Perform detailed bank reconciliations by matching bank transactions against the general ledger.
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items.
Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Obtain and validate meter readings where applicable.
- Verify billing rates and contractual terms.
- Prepare invoices and supporting documents, issue invoices to clients, and track acknowledgements and collections.
Accounts Payable (AP)
- Prepare payment vouchers for utilities and supplier invoices with complete supporting documentation.
- Perform three-way matching (PO, invoice, delivery note).
- Obtain necessary approvals and upload payments via internet banking platforms.
Audit Support
- Assist the accounting team during year-end audits.
- Prepare audit schedules and retrieve supporting documents as requested by auditors.
Inter-Company Billing & Reconciliation
- Prepare and issue debit notes for inter-company charges in accordance with agreed allocations.
- Ensure accurate recording and communication to relevant entities.
- Track outstanding balances and follow up on confirmations.
Fixed Asset Management
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
Management Reporting Support
- Assist in preparing monthly management accounts.
- Update supporting schedules such as accruals, prepayments, AR/AP aging reports, and cash flow summaries.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial data.
Requirements
- Undergraduate pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- Basic understanding of accounting principles
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of accounting systems is an advantage
- Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and follow up effectively
- Willingness to learn and take ownership of assigned tasks
