Summary

Manages financial operations of a LARGE AND COMPLEX business unit or units, coordinating the financial team, DIRECTLY OR VIA TEAM LEADERS AND PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYEES. Provides direct and indirect supervision to subordinate team leaders and professional employees performing diverse roles. This includes establishing three to five year plans/objectives, and developing policies for the function/unit. Accountable for dept results and for activities or projects involving multi-functional teams. Work requires application of in-depth knowledge of professional standards and precedents in area of specialty. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and sets goals to achieve objectives. Establishes and recommends changes to policies. Develops or assists in the development of department budgets and goals. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules. Provides direct supervision to others, or indirect through subordinate supervisors, and coordinates the activities of a section or department with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods, and employees. Makes employee staffing decisions Reviews employees performance coaches for improved performance and takes appropriate disciplinary action as required. Manages employee total compensation. Provides final approval for subordinate managers/supervisors salary and performance recommendations. Builds cross-functional relationships where persuasive skills, negotiation skills, and considerable tact are required to gain support. Interacts directly with subordinates and peer groups interfaces with senior managers on issues related to the area of expertise. Maintains positive relationships with key customers, suppliers, etc., who have a significant impact on the success of the organization.

Detailed Description

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Oversee all plant-level accounting activities, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian GAAP and US GAAP reporting standards
• Manage themonthly, quarterly, and annual closing process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare and review statutory financial statements and local filings.
• Coordinate with regional and corporate finance teams on consolidation and reporting requirements.

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Establish and maintain a strong internal control framework, including compliance with SOX orequivalent corporate control standards.
• Lead risk assessments and ensure proper documentation of financial processes and controls.
• Coordinate internal and externalfinancial and operational audits.
• Identify and implement process improvements
• to strengthen control effectiveness and operationalefficiency.

Tax Management

• Manage all corporate tax, consumption tax (VAT equivalent), and local tax compliance in Malaysia,in close partnership with Corporate Tax
• Oversee tax filings, tax provisioning, and tax accounting.
• Monitor changes in Malaysian tax regulationsand ensure compliance.
• Support tax planning initiatives & incentives in coordination with the Corporate tax team.

Team Leadership

• Lead and develop theplant accounting and finance operations team.
• Build strong capabilities infinancial controls, reporting, and compliance.
• Foster a culture ofaccuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Business Partnership

• Partner withplant leadership, operations, supply chain, and procurementto support financial decision-making.
• Supportcapital investment decisionsusing the right analytics.
• Work with Supply Chain to manage & optimize inventory, obsolescence and turns.
• Support plant initiatives such asautomation, efficiency improvements, and financial systems upgrades.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

Education

• Bachelor's degree inAccounting, Finance, or related fieldCPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent certification preferred

Experience

• 10+years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience inmanufacturing environments
• Experience inMultinational companies
• Experience managingaccounting operations for large-scale facilities
• Strong experience withinternal controls, audit coordination, and tax compliance

Skills & Competencies

• Deep knowledge ofUS GAAP & Malaysian accounting standards and tax regulations
• Experience with SAP
• Strong understanding ofSOX/ internal control frameworks
