Job Description: Finance Manager/ Assistant Manager – Renewable Energy EPC (Construction & Solar)

Role Overview
As Finance Manager, you will be the financial anchor for our Malaysia and Singapore operations—ensuring robust project costing and projects are delivered within budget, and financial risks are properly managed, cashflow management, contract accounting, treasury management across EPC projects and statutory compliance. This role demands a seasoned finance professional with experience in construction, infrastructure, or EPC finance, ideally within renewable energy, and capable of navigating complex reporting environments while maintaining high standards of governance and transparency.
Key Responsibilities
Project Costing & Construction Finance
- Develop and manage detailed project budgets for utility-scale solar and infrastructure installations.
- Monitor project budgets, cost-to-complete, and margin analysis.
- Track project costs, variations, claims, and progress billings across engineering, procurement, and construction phases.
- Ensure accurate percentage-of-completion (POC) or contract accounting.
- Review subcontractor payments, retention sums, and final accounts.
- Implement cost control measures and variance analysis to ensure financial discipline.
- Support bid pricing and provide financial inputs for new project tenders.
Cashflow & Treasury Management
- Prepare and maintain rolling cashflow forecasts across multiple concurrent projects.
- Manage project-level treasury operations, including payments, collections, and fund allocations.
- Liaise with banks and financial institutions for drawdowns, guarantees, working capital facilities and project funding requirements.
- Monitor liquidity and ensure timely funding of project milestones and supplier obligations.
Financial Reporting & Statutory Compliance
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g. MFRS/IFRS).
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis at both corporate and project levels.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations (corporate tax, SST/GST if applicable, withholding tax).
- Coordinate with tax agents on tax filings, tax planning, and audits.
- Ensure timely submission of statutory returns and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate external audits and respond to auditors queries.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with project managers, procurement, and engineering teams to align financial strategy with execution.
- Interface with regional finance leadership to support group-level reporting and capital planning.
- Liaise with consultants, lawyers, bankers, and joint venture partners.
- Provide timely financial insights to support contract negotiations, risk management, and strategic decisions.
- Prepare financial information for board meetings and lenders.
Team Management & Process Improvement
- Lead, coach, and develop the finance team.
- Review and improve financial processes, systems, and reporting efficiency.
- Support ERP or accounting system implementation and enhancements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent preferred).
- 5–8 years of relevant finance experience, preferably in construction, engineering, infrastructure, or EPC ideally within renewable energy.
- Strong understanding of project costing, WIP accounting, cost control and cashflow management.
- Experience managing treasury operations and working capital in a project-based environment.
- Proficiency in accounting and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365 or equivalents).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate financial matters clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
