OVERVIEW
To oversee the preparation of monthly financial accounts and management reports in accordance with reporting deadlines, and to manage the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Department, including subsidiary entities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and effective internal controls.
- Prepare and deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts in accordance with established reporting schedules.
- Review and evaluate management accounts and financial reports prepared by accounts personnel to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Supervise and manage the accounts team, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and proper documentation.
- Implement and monitor effective asset management and control practices.
- Review, develop, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to enhance operational efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable accounting standards.
- Coach and develop accounts staff to enhance their job knowledge, productivity, and performance.
- Liaise with tax agents, external auditors, and bankers on matters relating to accounting, audit, taxation, and financing.
- Participate in ERP system implementation and improvement initiatives, driving automation and process enhancements within the Accounts Department.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management or immediate superior.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or a professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of Financial Reporting Standards (FRS).
- Familiarity with the Companies Act and Income Tax Act.
- Experience in trading, retail, or costing environments will be an added advantage.
- Exposure to handling overseas entities or cross-border accounting matters is preferred.
- ERP system experience and strong system knowledge will be an added advantage.
