Our client is a Malaysia-based property development group with an established track record across residential and mixed-use projects, and an expanding construction arm supporting its in-house development pipeline. The business has demonstrated steady growth over recent years, underpinned by a healthy project launch pipeline and disciplined cost management. With a lean, closely-held corporate structure and a hands-on leadership team, the company offers a high-visibility finance role reporting directly to the CEO well suited to a finance professional who wants ownership of the full finance function and exposure to both corporate and construction accounting.
The Finance Manager / Senior Manager will take full ownership of the Finance Department's accounting function, including oversight of construction-related accounting, and will play a key role in shaping the financial direction of the business as a trusted advisor to the CEO.
Key Responsibilities
- Close monthly accounts on schedule and present financial performance updates to management.
- Review and refine departmental policies and workflows to lift efficiency, service quality and the reliability of information delivered to internal and external stakeholders.
- Work with department heads to build the annual budget, track actuals against plan, flag variances and propose corrective action where targets are missed.
- Coordinate year-end audit planning and execution with external auditors, and oversee preparation of the audited financial statements and annual report.
- Manage tax planning to keep the Company's tax position efficient, and review tax computations prepared by external tax agents for accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor the Company's cash position to maintain healthy liquidity, and review and approve payments in line with financial policy.
- Review month-end journals, adjustments, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany confirmations, prepayments, accruals and supporting schedules for completeness and accuracy.
- Prepare annual tax instalment estimates and work with tax agents to revise them as needed.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a recognised professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or MICPA).
- MIA membership preferred.
- At least 5 years of accounting experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to link financial results to operational drivers and recommend improvements.
- Construction industry exposure preferred.
- Self-motivated, proactive and results-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
