Our Role
The Financial Accountant will play a key role in maximizing operational efficiency, developing scalable practices, and managing internal & external compliance. This position offers a unique opportunity for the successful applicant to apply their skills in solving business challenges across the many geographies in which Graymont operates.
Ideally suited for a first or second mover from business services/audit, this role will strengthen the APAC and Global Financial Accounting teams through leading and supporting a range of value-adding processes that are critical to the accuracy & integrity of reporting with the Group.
Key focus areas the role will include:
Core Financial Accounting function:
- Assisting with month-end and year-end closing tasks, including reconciliations and preparation of journal entries & work-papers for accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications.
- Understanding of the Group's intercompany structure, related party transactions and eliminations processes.
- Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure compliance with Group accounting policies and IFRS.
- Collaborating with regional & global finance teams to ensure alignment & consistency in accounting practices.
- Assisting in preparation of reports and analysis for management and key stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement of existing processes and establish new processes to meet evolving business needs, including documentation of these standard procedures.
- Banking & Treasury support (US):
- Manage daily and weekly bank reconciliations, investigate variances
- Support transition to automated bank reconciliations
- Prepare and monitor daily cash sweep entries
- Corporate & Purchasing card reconciliations
Compliance ownership:
- Lead indirect tax compliance across APAC (i.e. Malaysian SST, Australian GST & New Zealand GST & FBT), including preparation of returns and reconciliations.
- Preparation of other statutory filings in APAC, such as stamp-duty and government surveys
- Support during interim & final audits in APAC, including preparation of workpapers
- Support during interim & final tax review in APAC, including preparation of estimates
Support to APAC FA & FBP teams:
- Assist with inventory management & valuation through preparation of IPS files and valued inventory reconciliations
- Assist with management of Fixed Asset Registers and Capital Work-in-Progress, including code creations, closures and disposals
Support with Sustainability:
- Assist with internal audits related to ESG compliance
- Assist with IFRS S2 audits and reporting, including maintenance of supporting documentation
Ideally, the successful candidate will have the following attributes and qualifications:
- Knowledge: Extensive financial accounting experience and strong understanding of IFRS principles. Professionally recognized membership (CA, ACCA, CPA) and with a minimum of 3 years experience required. Experience in manufacturing industry is desirable.
- Technical: Proficiency in ERP & BI systems (JDE & Cognos preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
- Soft Skills: Analytical, can manage competing priorities and is deadline-driven with strong communication, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving abilities.
- Other: High integrity and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
