The Financial Accountant is responsible for supporting the preparation of Group consolidated financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The role plays a key part in the monthly consolidation process, quarterly and annual reporting, and supports Group-wide financial planning, audit activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assist in preparation (including review and analysis) of monthly Group consolidated financial statements, quarterly announcements to Bursa Malaysia and yearly audited financial statements, particularly in terms of accuracy and timeliness.
- Plan, cascade and implement monthly Group-wide financial close time-table;
- Track accuracy and timeliness of monthly submission of all entities;
- Perform monthly Group consolidation exercise;
- Lead and coordinate the preparation of Quarterly Reports, including presentation materials to the Bord of Directors;
- Assist in preparation of materials required for analysts and media briefings.
- Ensure proper execution/implementation of accounting policies, statutory compliances and other financial matters at Group level.
- Assist in preparation of Annual Report, mainly for finance-related areas.
- Assist in preparation of Group annual business plan, mainly for consolidated related data.
- Assist in annual audits exercise.
- Assist in process improvements.
- Integration of financial reporting process of newly acquired companies;
- Enhances existing consolidation and reporting related processes;
- Automation of budget preparation processes.
- Liaison with external auditors, internal auditors, tax agents and company secretary for required statutory requirements.
- Other ad-hoc duties as prescribed by the finance manager to assist in achieving Finance Department's objectives.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess a professional qualification from an internationally accepted accounting body (e.g. ICAEW, ACCA, MICPA, CPA etc.) or Degree in Accounting from a recognised university.
- At least 3-5 years of relevant working experience in commercial and consolidation in public listed company in Malaysia.
- Strong and solid understanding on financial accounting principles, consolidation techniques, and reporting standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-moving environment with positive and proactive attitude.
- Self-motivated, strong analytical and financial analysis capabilities, high attention to details and the ability to work independently.
- Assertive and able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge of SigmaConso system, SUN system and oil and gas industry will be an advantage.
