Job Summary:
The Financial Analyst will play a crucial role in the Finance department, primarily responsible for developing and maintaining robust financial projections and forecasts, managing assets and liabilities, and conducting comprehensive stress testing. This position requires a strong analytical mind, meticulous attention to detail, and a deep understanding of financial modeling and risk management principles within a banking context. The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Projections & Forecasting:
- Develop, maintain, and refine comprehensive financial models for short-term and long-term financial projections, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Prepare detailed forecasts for key financial metrics such as revenue, expenses, profitability, and capital requirements.
- Analyze historical data and market trends to inform and improve forecasting accuracy.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Credit, Operations, Product) to gather necessary inputs for financial models.
- Present financial projections and forecasts to senior management and stakeholders.
Balance Sheet Management (ALM): Work collaboratively with Treasury, Risk and Business divisions to:
- Monitor and analyze the bank's asset and liability structure to optimize net interest margin and manage interest rate risk.
- Develop and implement ALM strategies to ensure optimal liquidity, funding, and capital utilization.
- Perform gap analysis and scenario analysis to identify potential ALM risks and opportunities.
- Prepare ALM reports and presentations for the Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO) and other relevant committees.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and regulatory requirements related to ALM.
Stress Testing: Work collaboratively with Risk Department to:
- Design, implement, and execute various stress testing scenarios (e.g., economic downturns, market shocks, operational disruptions) to assess the bank's resilience.
- Quantify the potential impact of stress events on the bank's financial performance, capital adequacy, and liquidity.
- Develop and maintain robust stress testing frameworks and methodologies.
- Prepare detailed stress testing reports for internal and external stakeholders, including regulators.
- Collaborate with Risk Management to integrate stress testing results into the overall risk management framework.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Generate regular and ad-hoc financial reports, insights, and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Identify and communicate key financial trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Assist in the preparation of board reports and investor presentations.
Other Duties:
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.
- Participate in special projects as assigned by the Head of Finance.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and accounting standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. CFA or ACCA certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), ALM, or stress testing, preferably within the banking or financial services industry. Experience in a startup environment is a strong advantage.
- Proven expertise in financial modeling, forecasting techniques, and quantitative analysis.
- Strong understanding of banking products, operations, and regulatory landscape.
- Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills. Experience with financial modeling software (e.g., SQL, Python, R) is a plus.
