Role Description
We are hiring a full-time Financial Controller to join our team on-site at our headquarters in Ipoh. The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations while driving business performance through financial analysis, strategic planning, and cost management. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, and effective monitoring of operational performance to support informed management decisions.
The Financial Controller works closely with senior management and cross-functional teams to analyse profitability, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), improve cost efficiency, and support long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial statements.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Provide timely financial reports and insights to support management decision-making.
- Conduct financial analysis on revenue, expenses, and profitability trends.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning
- Lead the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor actual financial performance against budgets and investigate variances.
- Provide financial projections and scenario analysis to support strategic planning and investment decisions.
Costing & Profitability Analysis
- Oversee product and operational costing structures.
- Analyse cost drivers including raw materials, production, labour, and overhead costs.
- Monitor gross margin and product profitability across business segments.
- Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and operational performance.
Business Performance & KPI Monitoring
- Develop and monitor financial and operational KPIs across departments.
- Track key metrics such as production yield, cost per unit, margin performance, and operational efficiency.
- Provide management with performance dashboards and actionable insights.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Manage company cash flow and ensure adequate liquidity for operations.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory management to optimize working capital.
- Monitor financial risks and implement appropriate financial controls.
Compliance, Governance & Audit
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax requirements, and statutory obligations including SST where applicable.
- Strengthen internal controls and financial governance practices.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely submission of required documentation.
Cross-Functional Business Support
- Collaborate with operations, purchasing, and sales teams to improve financial and operational performance.
- Support pricing strategies through cost and margin analysis.
- Provide financial insights for new business initiatives, product development, and expansion plans.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent) is preferred.
- Minimum 68 years of experience in finance, accounting, or financial management roles.
- Strong analytical and financial modelling skills.
- Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, or food production industries is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of costing, budgeting, and financial analysis.
- Proficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate financial data into business insights.
