Role Description The Financial Controller (Pre-Opening) role is a full-time, on-site position based in Sabah, Malaysia. This role is responsible for setting up and overseeing all pre-opening financial processes, including establishing accounting systems, internal controls, and reporting frameworks in alignment with brand and local regulations. The Financial Controller will prepare and review financial statements, manage budgeting and forecasting, monitor pre-opening expenditures, and ensure accurate financial reporting to ownership and corporate stakeholders. Daily tasks include coordinating with operations and project teams, managing cash flow and cost controls, supporting audits, and implementing policies that promote financial integrity and efficiency ahead of the hotel's opening.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Accounting and Finance skills, with experience in hotel or hospitality finance preferred.
- Candidates should possess expertise in Financial Statements and Financial Reporting, including compliance with relevant accounting standards and local regulations.
- Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills to interpret financial data, support decision-making, and optimize cost controls.
- Candidates should possess proficiency with financial and accounting software, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
- Relevant professional qualifications or a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field are beneficial.
- Experience in pre-opening hotel projects, internal controls, and audit preparation is an advantage.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills, with the ability to work on-site in a dynamic environment.
