Job Description

Finance Reporting & Automation Consultant

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Contract: 12 months

We are supporting a leading global manufacturing business in the search for a Finance Reporting & Automation Consultant to support reporting improvement, dashboard development and process automation across regional finance operations.

This role will suit someone with a strong accounting or financial reporting background who is also comfortable working hands-on with Excel VBA / macros, Power BI and reporting automation. The successful consultant will help improve reporting processes, streamline manual activities and build practical dashboard and automation solutions that support finance teams and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Support finance reporting, analysis and process improvement activities across regional operations
  • Review existing reporting processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and visibility
  • Develop and enhance Power BI dashboards and finance reporting packs for key stakeholders
  • Build and maintain Excel-based automation tools, including VBA / macros, to reduce manual work and improve reporting workflows
  • Consolidate and reconcile data from multiple finance reports, systems and spreadsheets to support management reporting and decision-making
  • Work closely with finance stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into practical dashboard and automation solutions
  • Support the improvement of month-end, reporting and other finance-related processes where manual intervention can be reduced

Candidate profile

  • Strong experience in accounting, financial reporting, record-to-report, controllership or finance operations
  • Prior experience within manufacturing, shared services, regional finance operations or complex multinational environments would be beneficial
  • Open to contract/project roles
  • Strong hands-on capability in Excel, including VBA / macros
  • Experience building or enhancing Power BI dashboards and finance reporting solutions
  • Comfortable working with large data sets, multiple spreadsheets and manual reporting processes
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work directly with finance teams and business users
  • Big 4 background or professional accounting qualification (CPA / ACCA / CA / equivalent) would be advantageous
