Overview
We are partnering with a global leader in the commodities industry to identify a Data Scientist (AI/ML) for a newly created role. This is a unique opportunity to play a pioneering role in building the organisation's data and AI capabilities from the ground up.
As the first dedicated data hire, you will have the autonomy to shape the data and AI roadmap, working closely with business stakeholders to develop machine learning solutions that drive strategic decision-making in a highly dynamic global market.
This role offers the opportunity to apply advanced analytics, machine learning, and predictive modelling to large-scale datasets, helping the organisation gain deeper insights into market trends, price movements, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop machine learning models for price forecasting and predictive analytics
- Analyse large datasets to identify market trends, trading insights, and risk indicators
- Build data-driven tools to support decision-making across trading, marketing, and operations
- Develop predictive models to enhance risk management and responsiveness to market shifts
- Apply AI/ML to improve supply chain efficiency and sustainability initiatives
- Translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations for stakeholders
- Work closely with leadership to define and implement the organisation's AI and data strategy
- Support the development of automation and analytics capabilities across the business
Requirements
- Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
- Strong experience in machine learning, predictive modelling, and statistical analysis
- Proficiency in Python, R, or other data science programming languages
- Experience working with large datasets and data pipelines
- Familiarity with forecasting models, predictive analytics, or time-series analysis
- Ability to communicate complex analytical insights to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in commodities, trading, financial markets, or supply chain analytics is advantageous
