About Us
We are a fast-growing fintech startup building next-generation payment and wallet infrastructure for children with in house built IP on parental control and purpose bound money. We move fast, operate lean, and hold ourselves to a high engineering bar. We're looking for a senior technology leader to be part of our engineering and R&D function end-to-end, someone who can think at the architecture level and still roll up their sleeves when it counts. We have started to extensively use Agent infrastructure in day to day code and expanding to development of sub modules entirely using measured & controlled AI agent teams.
We are the largest cashless school platform in Malaysia and growing regionally and next phase of growth is on parental control consumer payments using concepts of purpose bound money through IPs we've developed in house.
The Role
You will be a key member of the Engineering team owning and driving the payments, wallet and transactions engines which require good knowledge on how high performance systems work in an AWS cloud architecture.
We are open to both MID/Sr candidates with demonstratable experience in the areas mentioned here.
Requirements
Payment & Wallet Systems
- Technically lead the design, development, and reliability of our payment processing platform including custom proprietary closed loop card systems, DuitNow pay based system, understand VISA card rails and issuer integrations on VISA rails at the core.
- Ensure reliability and operations availability at all times from a cloud, code and technology perspective.
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Good knowledge and experience on AWS-native infrastructure including ECS Fargate, Lambda, Aurora MySQL, Elasti Cache, and associated DevOps pipelines.
- Drive infrastructure reliability, cost optimization, and security best practices.
- Maintain IaC discipline (SAM, CloudFormation) and CI/CD maturity across the team.
- Experience in using Kafka, Dynamo to RDS streaming
Enterprise Architecture
- Maintain discipline in architecture governance ensuring our systems are scalable, modular, and aligned with long-term business strategy.
Current Tech & Development stack
- Node.js for backend, limited use of GO on some areas requirement high performance
- Ionic for Front end
- Angular for back office portals
- Hands on AWS experience
- others -> Lamda, containers, PG, Dynamo, Kafka etc.
Team Leadership
- Share, mentor and guide Jr engineers coming in to instill sw engineering discipline
- Hire, mentor, and retain strong engineers; build a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
- Act as the technical escalation point across engineering, product, and operations.
AI use experience
- Familiar with performance driving initiatives using AI not just in coding but in testing, setting up guides for team
- Able to or keen in learning to setup Agent farms to accelerate code deployments, test but not replacement for human engineers
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years in software engineering
- Having a technical leadership role is a plus
- Strong hands-on background in fintech payments, wallet systems, or financial infrastructure, ecommerce, payment gateway and more. In short, you must have experience in developing systems that process 1-5M transactions per month.
- Experience developing and operating cloud-native systems on AWS at production scale.
- Strong leadership in coding and code development, review, test & deployment. In short, we dont want a pure manager but a hands on engineering head.
- Demonstrated ability as tech lead in researching and shipping real products.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF or equivalent) is a strong plus.
- Recent experience around agentic AI, using Agent farms to automate development processes and keen interest to 10x output through automation and innovation.
- Comfortable operating in a startup environment low process overhead, high ownership, fast iterations.
