Functional Tester (Core)

Job Description

1. Test Analysis & Planning

a. Understand business requirements and assess change impacts

b. Ensure requirements are complete and updated

c. Prepare/review test plans and environment needs

2. Test Design

a. Develop and review detailed test cases/scripts

b. Use tools like ALM/JIRA/BrowserStack/Katalon and collaborate with SIT/UAT users for test case validation

3. Test Execution & Defect Management

a. Execute test and regression cases as scheduled

b. Log and track defects with proper documentation

c. Support defect resolution and communicate issues promptly

4. Process & Quality Assurance

a. Follow defined test processes and assign defect severity

b. Support continuous improvement of testing practices at team and org level

5. Coordination & Reporting

a. Manage multiple test requests and provide status updates to Functional Lead/QA Head

b. Support UAT testers and participate in cross-team defect discussions

1. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

2. Hands-on Experience in Functional Testing

Able to plan, write, and execute test scenarios for different modules and business flows.

3. Basic Database Skills (SQL)

Can write basic queries to check and validate backend data against the UI or reports.

4. Testing Interfaces and Data Flows

Experience in testing file uploads, data exchange between systems

5. Use of Test & Defect Tools

Comfortable using test management and defect tracking tools such as JIRA, BrowserStack, Katalon, or ALM.
