General Ledger (GL) Accountant

Reports to: Financial Controller

Overview:

As a General Ledger Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. You'll be responsible for maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries, and supporting month-end and year-end closing activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies.
  • Prepare journal entries (accruals and prepayments).
  • Monitor to ensure account reconciliations are performed regularly and there are explanations for all discrepancies.
  • Provide backup for AR/AP posting, if needed.
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Assist in preparing management accounts and financial reports.
  • Support audits, tax and transfer pricing by providing documentation and explanations for GL entries.
  • Collaborate with other finance team members to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in GL processes and controls.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is an advantage.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in accounting.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and month-end closing processes.
  • Experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit support.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., SAP or Oracle).
  • Good analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and meet reporting deadlines.
