Job Description

Responsibilities

Key duties of a general plantation worker

Field operations:

Harvesting: Cutting and collecting the fresh fruit bunches (FFB) or other crops at the correct time of maturity.
Planting and replanting: Preparing the land, digging holes, and planting seedlings to establish new crops.
Fertilizing: Applying fertilizer to the crops to ensure proper growth, typically requiring the use of wheelbarrows and following specific guidelines.
Pest and disease control: Assisting with the spraying of pesticides or other treatments to protect the crops.

Estate upkeep and maintenance:

Weeding: Clearing weeds and other unwanted vegetation, either manually with tools like machetes or hoes, or by operating a tractor on slopes and roads.
Pruning: Trimming excess or dry leaves from the plants, which is common in oil palm plantations.
Infrastructure maintenance: Helping with the upkeep of roads, drains, and irrigation systems within the plantation.

Other responsibilities:

Loading and transportation: Moving harvested crops from the field to collection points.
Following instructions: Working under the supervision of a field conductor or supervisor to carry out daily tasks.
Safety protocols: Adhering to all safety regulations and company policies while performing tasks.

Physical fitness: The job is physically demanding, involving heavy lifting and long hours working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Punctuality and diligence: A strong work ethic is required to ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently to meet production targets.

Ability to follow directions: General workers must be able to understand and execute instructions from their supervisors accurately.
