Role Description

The Genomics HPC Infrastructure Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Cheras. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure that supports large-scale genomic data processing and analysis. Daily tasks include monitoring system performance, managing servers and storage, ensuring reliable network connectivity, and performing routine maintenance and upgrades. The specialist will troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, enhance security configurations, and work closely with bioinformatics and data science teams to optimize workflows and resource utilization. The role also involves documenting infrastructure changes, implementing best practices in IT operations, and contributing to the scalability and robustness of the technical environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong infrastructure skills, including experience with HPC environments, server administration, and storage management.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, operating systems, and application-level issues in complex IT setups.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and practices, including configuration and maintenance of switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Experience with network security, access controls, and monitoring tools to safeguard data and systems.
  • Background in IT operations, including system monitoring, backup and recovery, and configuration management.
  • Familiarity with Linux-based systems commonly used in HPC and scientific computing environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in scientific computing, bioinformatics, or data-intensive applications is an advantage.
