Company Description

The Geotechnical & ERSS Design Engineer (Regional) will play a key role in delivering engineering solutions for deep excavation, Earth Retaining and Stabilising Systems (ERSS), and sheet piling applications across Asia. The role provides technical design support, collaborates closely with the commercial team, and has a structured pathway for the candidate to take on greater technical leadership responsibilities over time.

Role Description

To support regional technical operations by performing detailed geotechnical and ERSS design work, preparing engineering deliverables, and providing technical assistance to internal and external stakeholders. The position is intended to grow into a future technical leadership role depending on performance and capability.

Responsibilities

1. ERSS & Deep Excavation Design

  • Develop ERSS designs including sheet pile walls, diaphragm walls (if applicable), strutting systems, soldier piles, and temporary/permanent retaining structures.
  • Perform geotechnical analyses such as:
  • Lateral earth pressure & wall stability
  • Strut load estimation
  • Ground movement assessments
  • Excavation impact evaluations (adjacent structures, utilities, etc.)
  • Prepare design reports, calculation notes, engineering drawings, and method statements.

2. Geotechnical Engineering Analysis

  • Interpret soil investigation (SI) reports, lab test data, and ground profiles.
  • Carry out geotechnical calculations including bearing capacity, settlement, slope stability, and groundwater control considerations.
  • Develop engineering recommendations aligned with project and soil conditions.

3. Technical Support to Sales & Clients

  • Provide technical proposals and design alternatives to support Sales/Technical Sales teams.
  • Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, and tender clarifications.
  • Assist contractors and consultants with technical queries, value engineering options, and solution optimisation.

4. Project Coordination & Technical Delivery

  • Support project execution from tender stage through completion.
  • Coordinate with Technical Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet requirements.
  • Conduct site visits when required for design validation, technical troubleshooting, and monitoring.

5. Documentation, Standards & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure all engineering outputs comply with relevant codes and standards (Eurocode, BS, local codes).
  • Maintain design tools, templates, and technical documentation.
  • Contribute to internal technical improvement initiatives, product optimisation, and development of design guidelines.

Requirement

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering.
  • 38 years experience in geotechnical design or ERSS design.
  • Strong experience in deep excavation, retaining structures, strutting systems, and temporary works design.
  • Exposure to sheet piling systems is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical and structural design software such as: PLAXIS.
  • Strong understanding of soil-structure interaction, ground movement, and excavation engineering.
  • Ability to prepare clear engineering drawings and 2D/3D visualisations of design concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication and client-facing skills.
  • High initiative, independence, and willingness to take on growing responsibilities.
