Global Category Manager (IT Procurement)

Overview

Our client is a listed US-MNC within the high-tech electronics manufacturing sector (HMLV) in expansion phase.

As part of their Procurement Transformation, they are currently on the lookout to hire for a Global Category Manager to manage their IT spend across all subcategories: software, hardware, and professional services.

• Full-time, permanent role (newly created headcount)
• Reporting to Global Procurement Director
• Only available for candidates with working rights in Malaysia

This position would be responsible for spend analysis, category management strategy design, implementation, and execution, performance metrics setup, contract management, risk management, end-to-end supplier management cycle (sourcing, qualification, evaluation, negotiation, onboarding, and development), and to champion change across the organization.

Requirements

• At least 7 years in Regional/Global Category Management role (Strategic Procurement, not Operational/Purchasing) specialized in IT spend across hardware, software and services
• Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science is a plus, other relevant fields can be considered
• Strong communication skills in order to drive change, engage, and influence suppliers, and internal stakeholders efficiently
• Ability to make and present data-driven analysis and decisions to senior stakeholders
• Strong knowledge of IT suppliers/vendors, service levels, pricing, and reputation is required
• Exposure to digital tools like Ariba, Tableau, Power BI, is an advantage
