ABOUT LAVA

Founded in Japan in 2004, LAVA is Japan's leading boutique studio brand with 570+ studios and 2.5M+ members impacted. LAVA offers a diverse range of programs including Yoga, Pilates, Kickboxing, and EMS training, and is accelerating global growth across SEA and beyond.

ROLE PURPOSE

LAVA is hiring a Global Trainer (SEA) to develop and elevate instructor capabilities across Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam. This role will work directly with LAVA's Japan HQ training system, then localize and optimize training programs to suit each market while maintaining LAVA standards.

IMPORTANT NOTE

  •  This role trains instructors
  • Focus is training delivery and capability uplift only (NOT responsible for recruitment).
  • Creativity, flexibility, and deep expertise in Yoga & Pilates are mandatory.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1) Instructor Training Delivery (All LAVA services)

  • Deliver onboarding training for new instructors and advanced skill training for existing instructors
  • Facilitate workshops, practical teaching sessions, and performance assessments
  • Ensure consistent instructor readiness and class delivery standards across markets

2) Work with Japan HQ Training System (Core Standards)

  • Learn and align with Japan HQ training methodology, standards, and materials
  • Participate in HQ training and coaching sessions with Master Trainers during initial Japan onboarding

3) Localization & Redesign of HQ Training Content

  • Work from Japan HQ-owned training materials and adapt for SG/MY/VN market context.
  • Redesign training delivery to fit local culture, learning style, studio operations, and market needs.
  • Produce practical tools: teaching scripts, competency rubrics, QA checklists, coaching guides.
  • Maintain version control and clear documentation of localized materials.

4) Instructor Quality Assurance & Coaching (Field-based)

  • Conduct studio visits, class observations, and instructor audits.
  • Identify capability gaps and run coaching plans with measurable improvement targets.
  • Standardize teaching quality and the LAVA experience across studios and markets.

5) Training Operations & Cross-market Coordination

  • Build and manage monthly/quarterly training calendars for SG/MY/VN.
  • Coordinate scheduling and completion with Studio Leaders / Operations teams.
  • Track attendance, completion, and outcomes; report progress and issues to Global Expansion Manager.

SUCCESS INDICATORS

(Final KPIs will be aligned during onboarding.)

  • Instructor readiness / certification completion rate
  • Improvement in instructor audit scores after coaching cycles
  • Consistency of service delivery across SG/MY/VN studios
  • Training execution cadence (planned vs delivered sessions) and adoption

REQUIREMENTS

Must-have

  • Strong expertise in Yoga & Pilates (deep knowledge is mandatory)
  • Proven experience in instructor training /coaching / capability development (multi-site or multi-country is a strong advantage)
  • Fluent English communication (spoken + written)
  • Willing and able to travel internationally frequently (1–2 trips/month), especially in SEA
  • High creativity, flexibility, and ability to adapt training to local context

Preferred

  • Experience working with a standardized HQ training system and executing localization across countries
  • Background in boutique studios or premium fitness/wellness brands
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills; confident working with senior instructors

Personal attributes

  • High ownership, hands-on, field-oriented.
  • Structured, proactive, comfortable in expansion environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and clear communication.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Initial phase: 2–3 months in Japan to train directly with Master Trainers at HQ
  • After onboarding: frequent SEA travel (Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam), possibility of traveling to other regions such as UAE or USA depends on expansion plan.
  • Travel expenses covered by company policy
