Job Description

About the Organization

Our client operates critical national-scale financial infrastructure in Malaysia, supporting the country's payments ecosystem. The organization is strengthening its group-level finance leadership to keep pace with growing complexity and regulatory scrutiny.

This organization sits at the core of the nation's financial infrastructure, where financial integrity and regulatory trust are foundational to everything it does. As the group grows in complexity - more subsidiaries, more regulatory scrutiny, more stakeholders relying on clean numbers - the need for strong, senior financial judgment at the group level has never been greater. This role exists to be the anchor of that trust, enabling leadership to make confident decisions built on a rock-solid financial foundation.

The Role in Brief

This is the CFO's right hand on everything financial reporting, tax, treasury, and compliance. You'll own the integrity of the group's numbers across all entities, lead the senior finance function that protects that integrity, and directly shape how the organization presents and defends its financial position to regulators, auditors, and the Board.

Why It Matters

The organization's financial statements are the basis for regulatory confidence and every major Board decision. A gap in control or judgment here creates outsized risk - reputational, regulatory, financial. Get this role right, and the business moves faster without ever compromising on discipline. It's a position that calls for real judgment, particularly in the grey areas where standards don't give you a clean answer.

What You'll Own

  • Group-wide financial reporting, consolidation, and balance sheet integrity across all entities
  • Accounting policy positions and judgment calls on complex or non-standard transactions
  • Tax strategy, compliance, and the relationship with tax authorities and external advisors
  • Treasury strategy - liquidity, cash flow, and safeguarding of financial assets
  • The primary financial relationship with auditors, regulators, and the Board
  • Building and developing a senior finance leadership team across accounting, tax, and treasury

What This Looks Like Day to Day

  • Taking a defensible accounting position on a transaction where the guidance isn't black and white
  • Standing behind the organisation's financial treatment under audit or regulatory scrutiny
  • Turning a capital or liquidity issue into a clear decision for executives, with trade-offs laid out
  • Spotting balance sheet risk early and escalating before it becomes a control issue
  • Developing finance leaders so they operate as trusted advisors, not just compliance executors

What You'll Bring

  • Deep technical grounding, matched with the confidence to exercise real judgment
  • Comfort owning group-level financial positions and public disclosures
  • Established credibility with auditors, regulators, and senior executives
  • A track record leading senior finance teams through complexity and change
  • Commercial instinct, knowing when to hold the line and when to move fast
