We are partnering with a leading player in the manufacturing sector to appoint a General Counsel based in Kuala Lumpur. This is a senior leadership position that will play a critical role in supporting the companys continued growth and operational integrity across domestic and international markets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the chief legal advisor to the CEO, Board, and senior management team on all legal and regulatory matters.
- Lead and manage the legal function, including a small team of in-house counsel and external legal partners.
- Oversee and advise on a broad range of legal matters, including:
- General corporate and commercial issues
- Contract negotiation and review across the supply chain and customer base
- Transactional matters, including M&A and strategic partnerships
- Litigation and dispute management
- Regulatory, compliance, and risk-related issues
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including operations, finance, procurement, and human resources.
- Ensure the company operates within the legal and regulatory frameworks across relevant jurisdictions.
- Provide strategic legal input while maintaining a hands-on, solutions-driven approach to day-to-day operations.
- Support corporate governance and Board matters as needed.
Requirements:
- A qualified lawyer with minimum 15 years of post-qualification experience, including time spent in a top-tier law firm and in-house with complex, product-driven businesses.
- Prior experience in or deep understanding of manufacturing, industrial, or related sectors is essential.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, with prior experience managing legal teams.
- Strong commercial acumen and proven ability to partner closely with senior stakeholders.
- Comfortable navigating both strategic and operational legal issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in English (Mandarin or Bahasa Malaysia a plus).
- High levels of integrity, judgement, and professionalism.
