Overview
Manage the Group Insurance Programme across key lines property and casualty, financial and professional liability (D&O, Cyber, Crime), and employee benefits ensuring optimal coverage, cost efficiency, and alignment with business priorities.
Key Accountabilities:
- Optimise Insurance Strategy & Cost of Risk. Lead engagement with insurance brokers and insurers to structure, negotiate, and continuously enhance Group and local insurance programmes, ensuring optimal coverage, pricing, and alignment with business objectives.
- Insurance Operations & Governance. Oversee end-to-end insurance administration, including policy and contract reviews, placements and renewals, certificate of insurance issuance, premium allocation and payments, and maintaining centralised insurance documentation and SOPs.
- Insurance Advisory Business Partnering. Provide expert advisory to internal stakeholders across markets on insurance requirements for leases, vendor and contractor arrangements, service agreements, and emerging (insurable) risk issues.
- Claims Management & Loss Control. Monitor claims performance and loss ratios, manage complex and high-value claims, provide strategic settlement guidance, and implement loss control strategies.
- Facility Insurance Surveys & Valuations. Coordinate property surveys and valuations with brokers, insurers, and Division/Facility Leads, applying technical expertise to challenge unreasonable risk engineer recommendations and encourage facility teams to adopt best practices.
- Capability Building. Lead training, communication, and development initiatives for Insurance Leads across Divisions and Facilities, including post-renewal briefings, and leverage on existing IHH - FM Property Loss Prevention & Resilience Programme and IHH Risk & Compliance Forum events.
- Market Intelligence. Monitor insurance markets in Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, India, China, and Hong Kong to guide strategy and placements, while also tracking Trkiye, Bulgaria, Macedonia, the Netherlands, and Serbia to identify opportunities for optimisation and synergies.
- Future Readiness. Drive innovation in risk financing and captive solutions, leveraging technology and AI to enhance insurance and claims management, and provide data to the eGRC platform to deliver actionable risk insights.
Qualification and Requirement:
- Degree, ACII, ANZIIF, or equivalent professional qualification in General Insurance. Experience in life insurance and/or captive insurance is advantageous but not required.
- Minimum of 7 years experience managing a broad portfolio of general and professional lines of insurance across the Asian region, including both in-house and industry experience (broker/insurer).
- Strong command of written and spoken English, with the ability to draft policies, guidelines, and approval papers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willing and able to undertake regional travel for insurance surveys and valuations. Risk engineering expertise or exposure is advantageous but not required.
- Experience implementing and managing an Insurance Policy & Claims Management software for claims reporting and insurance management is desirable.
