Job Description

Job Summary

The Handyman is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the mall's building systems and M&E services to ensure smooth, safe and efficient operations. The role includes attending to faults, supporting tenant needs, and ensuring all systems are functioning with minimal disruption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspection & Preventive Maintenance
  • Conduct daily routine inspections of building systems and M&E services, including electrical, lighting, air-conditioning and mechanical ventilation (ACMV), chiller systems, pumps, fire protection systems, BMS, and plumbing/sanitary systems.
  • Identify and report any faults, irregularities or potential issues for rectification.
  • Repairs & Troubleshooting
  • Perform troubleshooting and attend to equipment breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Carry out day-to-day repair and rectification works promptly to minimise operational disruption.
  • Respond to emergency situations and resolve issues efficiently with minimal inconvenience to tenants and shoppers.
  • Tenant Support
  • Attend to tenants feedback, complaints and service requests promptly.
  • Ensure service assistance is delivered in a timely and professional manner.
  • Contractor Supervision & Safety Compliance
  • Escort, supervise and monitor contractors during routine servicing and emergency repair works.
  • Ensure all contractor works comply with safety, health and environmental regulations, as well as Company standards.
  • Reporting & Documentation
  • Report on breakdowns, defects, maintenance activities and irregularities.
  • Maintain proper records of maintenance works and system performance.
  • Assist in tracking and maintaining stock inventory of spare parts.
  • Store & Inventory Management
  • Support delivery checks of materials and spare parts from suppliers.
  • Maintain proper storage, housekeeping and preservation of tools and inventory.

Key Requirements

Job Location: JB City Square Mall

  • Minimum Certificate/Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Relevant technical certifications (e.g. Chargeman, Wireman) will be an advantage.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in building maintenance, preferably in a commercial or retail environment.
  • Basic knowledge of M&E systems and troubleshooting.
  • Able to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
