Job Description

Job Purpose

  • To lead and oversee the Group Accounts function, with primary responsibility for Group consolidation reporting and the successful completion of quarterly audit reviews and annual statutory audits. This includes consolidating and analyzing financial results of subsidiaries across multiple jurisdictions (7 countries), ensuring timely, accurate, and reliable reporting to management and shareholders.
  • To ensure full compliance with applicable accounting standards, statutory requirements, and regulatory frameworks across the Group.
  • To serve as the Group's Accounting Advisor on technical accounting matters, including interpretation and application of IFRS/MFRS and Group accounting policies for assigned reporting areas and transactions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the monthly Group consolidation close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to management and shareholders.
  • Analyze current and historical Group financial performance (P&L, Balance Sheet, cash flow, customer ageing, and collections), perform variance analysis, identify trends, and proactively highlight anomalies or inconsistencies. Engage relevant stakeholders to drive timely corrective actions.
  • Provide technical accounting advisory on M&A transactions, new business initiatives, and complex or non-routine transactions, including preparation and review of structured journal entries to ensure compliance with IFRS/MFRS and Group accounting policies.
  • Collaborate closely with Group Tax, Corporate Finance, Treasury, Subsidiary Finance teams, and Finance Shared Services to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of financial data and reporting deliverables.
  • Oversee timely quarterly regulatory submissions to Bank Negara Malaysia relating to foreign transactions (assets, equity, loans) of overseas subsidiaries.
  • Lead the preparation and completion of the Group's annual financial statements and review subsidiaries statutory financial statements.
  • Support additional reporting requirements, including sustainability reporting, risk management disclosures, and integrated annual reporting.
  • Monitor and track internal and external audit findings, particularly Internal Control Matters (ICM), ensuring timely remediation and strengthening of internal controls.
  • Drive continuous process improvements within the Group Accounts function and Group reporting process, including standardization of reporting templates, automation initiatives, and development of standard and ad-hoc reports to enhance consolidation and reporting efficiency.

Qualification, Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant financial reporting, consolidation, and people management experience, preferably with a career foundation in external audit in a Big 4 Firm.
  • Possess Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance OR professionally qualified accountant ie. ACCA, CPA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent.
  • Technically sound in accounting and reporting standards and financial statutory requirements.
  • Possess strong critical thinking, people management and analytical skills.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of listed company statutory reporting requirements, particularly in the Telecommunication industry will be an added advantage.
