ROLE SUMMARY

A heritage international provider of industrial and energy solutions, across multiple sectors, including downstream oil & gas.

Within the energy space, the organization works with refineries and petrochemical operators to improve operational efficiency, asset reliability, and process performance through integrated solutions and technical expertise.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Head of Business Development - Downstream Oil & Gas will lead strategic account growth across a key national energy portfolio within Malaysia.

The role is responsible for driving commercial expansion, senior stakeholder engagement, and long-term account strategy execution within the downstream oil & gas sector.

This position plays a critical role in strengthening relationships with major energy organizations and ensuring continued growth across existing and new business opportunities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Account Leadership

  • Lead and grow a high-value downstream oil & gas account portfolio
  • Develop and execute long-term account growth and retention strategies
  • Drive sustainable revenue growth and profitability across key accounts

Business Development & Growth

  • Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities within downstream operations
  • Expand existing customer relationships through cross-selling and solution-based selling
  • Lead strategic discussions on value creation, efficiency, and operational improvement

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key decision-makers across large energy organizations and GLCs
  • Engage across multiple levels including corporate, operational, and technical stakeholders
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders

Commercial & Contract Management

  • Lead commercial negotiations, pricing strategies, and contract discussions
  • Support tendering, renewal, and long-term agreement structures
  • Ensure alignment between customer requirements and internal delivery capabilities

Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with technical, engineering, and delivery teams to ensure successful execution of solutions
  • Align internal stakeholders to deliver on customer expectations and project outcomes
  • Support regional initiatives where required

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong background in downstream oil & gas, ideally within operations, services, or solution-based environments
  • Proven experience in business development, strategic account management, or senior commercial leadership roles
  • Strong existing network within major energy organizations and GLC ecosystems preferred
  • Ability to engage and influence senior-level stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing complex deals and negotiations
  • Experience working in multinational or matrix organizations strongly preferred
  • Strategic mindset with strong leadership and client-facing capability
  • High level of business maturity and relationship-building capability
