Job Description

Formative Search is partnering with a multinational energy player to provide renewables and energy solutions. They are expanding their team and seeking for a Business Development Head for Malaysia.

As the Business Development Head, you will play a vital role in expanding their solar projects portfolio in Malaysia. Reporting to the Head of Business Development, you will lead end-to-end business development efforts, ensuring technical accuracy for bids and proposals in the utility-scale solar sector. Your hands-on project management skills and collaborative approach will be crucial in guiding complex offers, assessing risks, and fostering partnerships that align with our growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to enhance project development capabilities, targeting significant growth and profitability goals in the solar energy sector.
  • Evaluate new RFIs and RFPs, conduct risk analyses, and implement a clear Go/No Go decision-making process.
  • Develop and manage a robust pipeline of solar project opportunities, leveraging internal teams and external partnerships.
  • Lead the full business development lifecycle for utility-scale solar projects, including proposal preparation, internal resource management, and client negotiations.
  • Formulate and execute marketplace strategies to identify and onboard potential clients for our solar solutions.
  • Ensure compliance is met with the guidelines, optimizing technical proposals through innovative technologies and solutions.
  • Facilitate effective communication across all stakeholders involved in bid preparations and project proposals.
  • Monitor the performance of business development activities, providing regular updates and strategic insights to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project development or commercial roles within the renewable energy sector, preferably focusing on utility scale solar energy.
  • Proven ability to work independently while being a collaborative team player, effectively managing complex projects under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a track record of delivering high-quality results in fast-paced environments.
  • Proficiency in English, with strong communication skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
