Head of Corporate Strategy

Job Purpose

The Head of Corporate Strategy is responsible for shaping and documenting the organisation's overall strategic direction. This includes identifying growth and profitability opportunities, analysing market trends and competitive dynamics, and assessing organisational strengths and weaknesses. The role works closely with C-suite leaders and key stakeholders to develop long-term plans and initiatives aligned with corporate objectives. It also oversees relationships with key external stakeholders, including government ministries, agencies, and industry partners.

This position reports to the Chief Corporate Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and formalise the overall corporate strategy by analysing market trends, identifying growth opportunities, and evaluating organisational strengths and gaps.
  2. Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment between strategy, vision, and mission.
  3. Identify and evaluate new business opportunities through market research, industry analysis, and potential partnerships or acquisitions.
  4. Conduct comprehensive financial assessments for new initiatives, including revenue projections, cost structures, profitability, and overall financial performance.
  5. Perform feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and risk assessments to support strategic decision-making and investment prioritization.
  6. Lead strategic initiatives aimed at achieving long-term business objectives, including market expansion, new product or service development, and process improvements.
  7. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to safeguard business performance.
  8. Communicate corporate strategy effectively to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and engagement across all levels.
  9. Monitor organisational performance against strategic goals and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  10. Work closely with senior executives (e.g. CEO, COO, CFO, CCO) to ensure cohesive execution of strategic priorities.
  11. Perform any other duties or ad hoc tasks as assigned by management or relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  2. Minimum 15 years of working experience, with at least 10 years in a leadership or management role, preferably within the telecommunications industry.
  3. Strong strategic thinking capabilities with the ability to challenge conventional approaches.
  4. Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
  5. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across functions.
  6. High level of integrity and adherence to ethical and compliance standards.
  7. Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
