Job Description

We are looking for a Head of Finance to join Base Maintenance Malaysia (BMM) and be part of our leadership team as we continue to scale our widebody aircraft maintenance operations in Subang.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer / General Manager, this is more than a traditional finance role. We are looking for a commercially minded finance leader who can combine strong financial stewardship with business partnering, operational insight and strategic decision support.

The Head of Finance will play a key role in helping BMM grow sustainably, improve cost competitiveness and make sound investment decisions as we expand our capabilities, customer base and operations.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Serve as a key financial adviser and business partner to the CEO and senior management team.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and management reporting.
  • Develop robust financial models for aircraft maintenance operations, manpower, productivity, capacity and growth.
  • Provide clear insights into aircraft check profitability, customer profitability and key cost drivers.
  • Partner Operations, Planning, Supply Chain, HR and Commercial teams to improve cost competitiveness and financial performance.
  • Support pricing, contract evaluation and commercial decisions for aircraft maintenance customers.
  • Lead financial evaluation of major investments, including hangar expansion, new capabilities, tooling, digitalisation, automation and other growth initiatives.
  • Strengthen financial controls, governance, accounting, tax, treasury and working capital management.
  • Prepare financial reporting and recommendations for BMM management, the Board and SIA Engineering Company Group.
  • Build and develop a capable, business-oriented Finance team.
  • Drive greater automation, analytics and digitalisation within the Finance function.

What we are looking for

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
  • Recognised professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
  • Approximately 12–15 years or more of progressive finance experience, with significant leadership responsibility.
  • Strong experience in FP&A, management reporting, financial controls, budgeting, forecasting, commercial finance and investment evaluation.
  • Proven ability to partner senior operational and commercial leaders.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate operational performance into financial insights.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-growing, operational and performance-driven environment.

Preferred experience

We have a strong preference for candidates with experience in the aerospace or aviation MRO industry.

Experience in areas such as the following would be particularly relevant:

  • Aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul
  • Aerospace manufacturing or engineering
  • Airline engineering or technical operations
  • Aviation services
  • Other complex engineering or asset-intensive businesses

Experience with aircraft maintenance costing, labour-hour economics, maintenance contract pricing, materials and subcontracting costs, or MRO profitability analysis would be a significant advantage.

The type of leader we are looking for

We are looking for someone who can operate across three dimensions:

Steward — ensuring strong financial governance and integrity.

Business Partner — working closely with Operations and other functions to improve performance.

Strategic Adviser — helping the CEO and Board evaluate growth opportunities, investments and the long-term economics of the business.

If you are a finance leader who enjoys being close to operations, understands the economics behind business performance and wants to help build and scale an aviation MRO business, we would be keen to hear from you.
