Position Overview

The Head of Human Resources will lead the company's people strategy, aligning HR initiatives with business objectives while building a high-performing and accountable workforce. This role strengthens recruitment, performance management, employee engagement, HR operations, and organisational development – professionalising a function that currently sits with individual staff members without strategic oversight. The successful candidate is proactive, commercially minded, and capable of building scalable HR processes independently within a growing technology company, rather than waiting to be directed.

Key Responsibilities

HR Strategy

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business goals
  • Partner with business leaders to improve workforce effectiveness
  • Drive organisational culture and employee engagement initiatives

Talent Acquisition

  • Oversee end-to-end recruitment
  • Improve recruitment processes and hiring efficiency
  • Build employer branding initiatives
  • Partner with hiring managers on workforce planning

Performance Management

  • Lead company-wide performance management processes
  • Improve KPI and appraisal frameworks
  • Coach managers on performance conversations
  • Drive employee accountability

HR Operations

  • Review and improve HR policies and procedures
  • Ensure payroll, compliance and employee documentation are managed effectively
  • Improve HR systems and reporting

Learning & Development

  • Identify capability gaps
  • Implement leadership development initiatives
  • Support succession planning

Employee Relations

  • Handle employee relations matters
  • Support managers on disciplinary and performance issues
  • Promote a positive, high-performance culture

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related discipline
  • 5–8 years of HR experience, ideally having built or matured an HR function from a fragmented starting point
  • Experience leading HR in technology or fast-growing organisations
  • Strong recruitment background
  • Experience designing performance management frameworks
  • Knowledge of Malaysian employment law (Employment Act 1955, EPF, SOCSO, LHDN)
  • Strong business partnering skills – able to connect HR initiatives to commercial outcomes
  • High autonomy and initiative; not suited to someone who needs close direction
  • HRIS experience preferred
