Job Description

  • Location: Suzhou, China (with 50% regional travel across Southeast Asia)
  • Remuneration: Highly competitive, open for negotiation (Indicative range: 1,000,000 - 2,000,000 RMB/Year)

As the leader of the Investment Evaluation department, you will bridge the gap between project origination and financial closing by solving two core structural challenges:

  1. Financial Modeling & Asset Valuation: Independently building, managing, and refining complex investment models, ensuring precise underwriting and clear M&A exit strategies for distributed energy assets.
  2. Cross-Border Outbound Direct Investment (ODI): Executing end-to-end cross-border investment loops. This includes deploying proprietary capital, leveraging Chinese overseas bank networks, structuring Local Joint Ventures (JV), and successfully executing asset sales or exits.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Investment Evaluation & Underwriting

  • Lead market research, financial feasibility studies, and comprehensive underwriting for overseas PV projects, with a primary focus on Southeast Asia.
  • Conduct deep-dive policy research, land resource verification, and environmental impact assessments (EIA) to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluate capital requirements, build precise financial models, formulate robust financing structures, and secure funding alignment.

2. Project Execution & Lifecycle Management

  • Oversee the entire investment lifecycle of PV projects from origination, development, and construction through to commercial operation date (COD) and O&M.
  • Maintain institutional relationships with local governments, energy ministries, industry utilities, and regional partners to secure policy support and resources.
  • Drive land leasing agreements, administrative approvals, and technical solution validations to guarantee on-time project delivery.

3. Cross-Border Financing & JV Management

  • Develop and execute project financing structures, collaborating with local and international teams to access bank credit lines, Chinese overseas bank branches, and institutional equity.
  • Structure and manage Joint Ventures (JVCos) and regional partnerships to minimize risk and accelerate project localization.

4. Market Intelligence & Strategy

  • Monitor global renewable energy policies, regulatory shifts, and tariff dynamics to dynamically adjust the company's SEA expansion strategy.
  • Identify emerging markets, greenfield opportunities, and portfolio acquisition targets.

5. Leadership & Team Building

  • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing investment and evaluation team.
  • Establish standardized investment evaluation frameworks and risk management workflows to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within target returns.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

  • Industry Experience: Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the Renewable Energy / Solar PV industry. Direct experience in Distributed Rooftop PV (C&I preferred, Residential secondary) is highly advantageous.
  • Track Record: Proven experience managing investment platforms or vehicles with exposure to both equity and debt financing, having successfully closed at least $100M in cumulative transactions.
  • Regional Expertise: Extensive hands-on transaction experience within Southeast Asia markets, specifically Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Thailand.
  • Transaction Mastery: Proven execution capability in structuring JVCos, M&A transactions, and managing the complete investment cycle from origination to successful exit.
  • Language Proficiency: Business-negotiation level fluency in both Mandarin and English is mandatory to facilitate cross-border communication between the China HQ and global financial institutions/local partners.
  • Mobility: Ability to maintain a flexible working schedule splits roughly 50% in Suzhou, China, and 50% traveling overseas.
