Head of Legal

Overview

The Head of Legal is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the Group's global legal strategy, governance, and compliance framework, while also serving as the country General Manager for the Malaysia office.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Management Team and Audit Committee, the role provides strategic legal guidance to support the Group's global operations, safeguard corporate interests, and ensure regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

In addition, the incumbent will act as the General Manager of the Malaysia office, responsible for overseeing local operations and ensuring that the Malaysia office operates smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal and Compliance

• Participate actively on the Management Team and Audit Committee.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts to support various business functions.
• Develop and deliver legal strategies aligned with global business objectives.
• Oversee the Group's legal compliance, continually enhancing and enforcing our compliance program (including policy development, training, and internal controls).
• Conduct and manage internal audits and investigations.
• Lead a global team in legal and compliance functions.
• Implement and optimize IT solutions for compliance and operational efficiencies, including contract management, trade restrictions, and legal request management.
• Monitor and mitigate enterprise risks across all business divisions.
• Manage international dispute resolution and external counsel relationships.
• Oversee intellectual property rights management.
• Offer legal support for business development, particularly in international representation agreements.

General Management of Malaysia Office

• Act as the General Manager for the Malaysia office for administrative purposes, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the Shared Service Centre and maintaining effective service delivery and operational efficiency in supporting the Group's business functions.
• Provide leadership and coordination for the local team to maintain operational stability and ensure compliance with company policies and local regulatory requirements.
• Serve as the local management representative for administrative and operational matters relating to the Malaysia office.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Juris Doctor or law degree from a recognized university.
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience in an international environment.
• Fluency in English; additional language skills are an advantage.
• Strong problem-solving skills paired with a strategic, business-oriented mindset.
• Comfort working across cultures and diverse geographies.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication abilities.
